Brainstorming on Databases & Your Business Success
Databases are a great way to manage data — including your processes, policies and procedures to help people do it “your” way. Who can keep up with customers, orders, or deadlines without some sort of database? Yes, you can use a spreadsheet but databases are more efficient. Come and discuss your experience and ask questions from our expert, Ed Scott, owner of Scott Resources.
No experience with databases necessary. This is NOT going to focus on tech but on how and where they fit into a successful startup or ongoing business. WARNING: there will be some tech talk but we will strive to keep it understandable.
Presenter: Ed Scott, Scott Resources
Ed Scott, Scott Resources, is a database guy who works with businesses of all kinds. He is great at designing, creating and making databases work and then helping the database-challenged manage theirs efficiently.
Hosts: Jan Triplett, Ph.D., CEO Business Success Center, author of Networker’s Guide to Success, co-author of Thinking Big, Staying Small, and creator of Business Traits Bingo™ and 100+ Ways to Fund a Business. Lindsey Allen, Exploring New Media, co-host.

Brainstorming on Firing a Customer
It happens. Sometimes you get the wrong client. Some of them turn out to be like “Radio Active Waste” (RAW) for your business. Or, maybe you just can’t help them without it costing too much on your part. You decide it just isn’t worth it and it doesn’t make good business sense. Now, what do you do about it?
Let’s talk about why, when and how to fire these “RAW” customers. It’s not anyone’s favorite thing to do but you and they really will be better off if you go separate ways. Planning ahead will make this unpleasant, but sometimes crucial, task much easier. There really are some best practices you can use. You might even be able to save the relationship and take them back when it can be win-win for you both or keep them as customers but with a better understanding. Bring your experiences, questions and concerns.
Meetup Facilitator & Presenter: Jan Triplett, Ph.D., CEO Business Success Center & PMAT™ Founder/Leader
About the presenter: Jan Triplett, Ph.D. CEO of the Business Success Center, has spent over twenty years mentoring and providing growth strategy to clients. Having started as a full service advertising and marketing company, she knows first hand the hard decision owners face when deliberately losing a client. Sometimes she has had to advise clients and even intervene when they had the wrong customers and sometimes abandoning a lead or not contacting a prospect is the best thing to do. Come decide for yourself.
The discussion will be lively and full of ideas from Dr. Triplett and other participants who share their insights.
