CodeNEXT has big implications for neighborhood businesses and the future of all small businesses. You will want to hear what Austin Mayoral Candidate Laura Morrison sees from her perspective as the former chair of the Austin Neighborhood Council as well as serving on the Austin City Council.
We will start right at noon and end at 1PM so please be on time. Come early if you want to eat and sit with our speaker. Bring cards to share and be prepared to share a recent success! The meeting is free but please be prepared to spend at least $10 to defray the cost of the room.
This is a program of the Austin Small Biz Success Meetup and the Business Success Center but everyone is welcome.
Host: Jan Triplett, Ph.D., CEO, Business Success Center and author/speaker on the 100+ Ways to Fund a Business.
About the Presenter: Laura Morrison
Laura Morrison proudly served as a member of the Austin City Council from 2008 through 2014, introducing more than 400 measures during her two terms. She promoted local businesses in city contracts, identified resources for low-income housing, increased tax exemptions for the disabled and elderly, and was a fierce champion for the environment, neighborhood stability, and social services. She served as president of the Austin Neighborhoods Council before that, doubling its size to 80 neighborhoods across the city. Prior to entering public service, she spent 10 years working as an engineer and manager for international aerospace firm Lockheed Martin.
As mayor, Laura plans to address Austin’s housing crisis with equitable, neighborhood-friendly solutions, develop a mass transit system that meets our city’s growing needs, and run City Hall openly and collaboratively, with a focus on the local residents and local businesses it is supposed to serve.
